SMALL PORTS:

The small ports of the world have their own problems. They have to deal with legislation designed for their larger brethren, safety rules which may only apply at the margins but must still be taken into account, and commercial changes which can radically affect their future and well-being. Often they have little more than a harbour master and a few staff to cope with it. Technological change can be a nightmare to port staff unaccustomed to the latest systems. Nor can a small port simply call up one the major international consulting firms - their fees may be more than the port's annual income and hence difficult to justify.
So Maritime Resolve has evolved a specialised service intended for the world's small ports. These may be commercial ports, fishing harbours, specialised berths or leisure facilities - between our sector experts and our general ports expertise we can provide answers.
A small port may only wish - or can only afford - to hire one consultant, who has to be able to cover all aspects. Maritime Resolve's consultants are broadly experienced individuals and this is their strength. One consultant from Maritime Resolve is able provide advice, planning, training and practical involvement across the range of port needs. That one consultant can remain involved with a port giving it long-term support, providing expertise whenever needed, be it electronically or on the spot. For this we charge a retainer plus a modest fee for time used, but the cost is small against the access to expertise which it gains. Small ports need not feel alone and doubtful any more.
