RESEARCH, INVESTIGATION ANDS RISK ASSESSMENT:
Finding and providing accurate information – and then using it in the client’s interests - is at the heart of everything Maritime Resolve does. This may be desk based and we have many such commissions behind us, but Maritime Resolve is at its best in field investigations, with our man on the spot to do it. We work world-wide and have no hesitation about working in difficult parts of the world in circumstances where clarity is not being seen from a distance. The whole ethos of the firm revolves around its ability to investigate and assess what it finds.
Our way of working depends on the urgency of the commission. When there is time to do so we will establish the brief, attend case meetings, investigate the matter as far as we can from our office and report to the client. Decisions can then be made on the degree of on-the-spot investigation needed for conclusions about the matter at issue. This need not be contentious – a significant part of our work lies in straightforward co-operative site investigation and consultation with relevant parties where we are thorough and rigorous, investigating in depth to produce full results and reports.

URGENT NEEDS:
But Maritime Resolve is perhaps at its most effective in hot situations, when there is a need for urgent independent investigation and we are asked to despatch a staff member to the spot to find out what is really going on. Then we will gather the intelligence, put it in context and report back – normally within twenty four hours of arrival – so that the client is enabled to make clear decisions based on accurate information. Why is there a hold-up? Is the ship seaworthy? Is the claim against the ship justified? If not, can we negotiate a settlement on the spot – another of our specialities.
We are always aware of the client’s need to stay in control often in remote and difficult situations. Our person on the spot will act as the client’s outreach, investigating and reporting in the first instance then, as appropriate, remaining with the matter to continue the information flow, advise on further steps and take action if called for to secure the client’s position.
Formal Risk Analysis is a sub-set of these skills, informed by our extensive experience in the marine world and the many specialist sectors we outline further in the following pages.
Our research and investigative skills can be deployed at any point across the spectrum from advance consultation exercises, studies and the development of plans and proposals, through the maritime and practical aspects of due diligence, to penetrating the fog which tends to surround bad situations.
