SHIP REPOSSESSION:
Repossession is the final step. We are acutely aware that, when repossession is the only option left, a creditor has probably lost money, and is simply trying to put a stop to further losses.
Repossession arises most commonly when there is a default, the borrower is unable or unwilling to hand over the ship, and the ship itself is not in a helpful jurisdiction when the decision is made to recover it. At this stage the crew have probably not been paid, are unco-operative or outright hostile, and other creditors are circling. The essence of repossession is to quietly take control of the ship, persuade the crew to co-operate and, either as representative of the mortgagee-in-possession, or simply as supervisor, transfer the ship to a more suitable jurisdiction.

Maritime Resolve’s partners muster a great deal of experience at this.* We know how to go into a port quietly and unobtrusively, gain the crew’s trust, and then ride with the ship, supervising it to its destination. We know how to address the many obstacles that may be placed in our way, and how to ensure that the ship is not arrested before our client is ready for it to be so.
When an owner collapses completely we can provide temporary ship management while the ship carries on trading or is moved, an arrest placed and the ship laid up.
Combined with the other aspects of our skills, we can provide the practical support while workouts are being pursued.
We are able to arrange the tracking of ships, including the placing of trackers on board, openly or covertly.
