PORTS AND WATERWAYS:
Maritime Resolve's lead partner for these is Douglas Lindsay. With consulting experience in macro-economics, port planning and organisation, labour relations, and safety, as well as working as a port agent and in stevedoring, he has a substantial body of port expertise to draw on. He has also consulted on inland waterway developments and canal operations.
The complete run of services associated with Maritime Resolve is available to the ports and inland waterways industries, from initial planning and costing to dealing with problems when things go wrong. Port operations, marine planning, and safety audits are all normal parts of what we can offer.
With our partners' experience ranging over merchant shipping, the fishing industry and the leisure sector we can provide expert inputs to all these sectors, and can be especially useful in reconciling conflicting demands where several different types of user are based within the same harbour.
Our experience in dispute resolution and ship repossession is every bit as applicable to port authorities when they find they have a problem ship on their hands. Knowing the industry from the port's point of view, and equally much from the ship operator's stance, we can bridge the gap to find solutions to seemingly intractable problems. If there is something a port authority wants rid of, or owes the port a lot of money, we may well be able to help.
PORT MARINE SAFETY CODE
This Code was introduced in the UK in the year 2000, and applied to all British ports. Douglas Lindsay was deeply involved with this as a consultant introducing the Port Marine Safety Code to 21 ports in the UK by early 2002. This called for carrying out a detailed audit of all aspects of each port's activities, consulting with its stakeholders, studying traffic and use patterns, defining with its duty Holders what their policies and ambitions were, then preparing a plan in accordance with the Code, to suit their particular needs.
The Code was written and intended solely for UK application but it has drawn considerable attention from other parts of the world and is now being introduced by us in other countries. Should this structured and well thought out system interest you, Maritime Resolve can advise on its applicability, carry out audits, and draw up plans and proposals based around it.
